Early childhood services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families

Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families miss out on early childcare services, even though they stand to benefit the most. To help change this, the Queensland Government has partnered with the Australian Government to establish 10 children and family centres across the state.

Before school care, after school care and vacation care

Outside school hours care services usually offer care for children of primary school age, including children enrolled in Prep.  Services operate before and/or after school and during school holidays.

Care for pre-schoolers from Monday to Friday

Long day care services provide care and education for children from birth to school age, including before and after school care.

Play-based learning for four year olds

In Queensland, children can receive the benefits of kindergarten programs delivered by qualified early childhood teachers in kindergarten and long day care services.

What support is available and where to find it

All early childhood education and care services will charge a fee to look after your child and this will vary depending on the amount of time your child is cared for and the service that is provided.
